Sandy Sigal, chairman and Chief Executive Officer of NewMark Merrill Companies, formed Landmark Retail Group in September 2005 responding to tenants' needs for assistance in the market penetration of the high-barrier-to-entry California market. Mr. Sigal knew retailers were faced with challenging property assemblages, tedious governmental approval processes, and intense competition for sites. These companies needed the security of a financially stable company to guide them through the political and, often times, overly bureaucratic paths to expanding their business in California.
